Why I started Rock for Vision.
My name is Yuvaan Modi, and I've been playing electric guitar for almost nine years. It's the single thing in my life that's stayed steady the longest. I am part of the House Band and performance program with School of Rock Issaquah and perform regularly at venues across the Greater Seattle area. There's nothing like the moment a crowd connects with a song.
But this project isn't just about music. It's about my grandfather. He lives with glaucoma, and the way he's faced it, with quiet strength, positivity, and unshakable spirit, has changed how I think about everything. He's the reason I picked up this mission.
My first benefit performance raised over $500 for the Glaucoma Research Foundation, and the response from our community made one thing clear: people want to help. They just need a reason, a song, and a stage.
That's also why Rock for Vision grew beyond the stage. Watching how my grandfather adapts pushed me to start engineering tactile fret markers for visually impaired players. It turns the name into something literal: music everyone can reach, whether or not they can see the neck.
